Rosie Holt at Edinburgh festival review — the spark’s gone out of this Tory satire

★★☆☆☆Rosie Holt became a viral sensation with her Tory politician character called Rosie Holt. It was an online mockery she played so sublimely straight that some mistook her for the real thing. Live, however, she is yet to really convince. Last year’s solo debut offered a fitfully inspired but slightly ragged combination of her well-groomed MP, her right-wing commentator character Harriet Langley-Swindon, something closer to herself as the “left-wing comedian Rosie Holt”, plus a few others.

Those others are gone now for this more focused follow-up, but so is the spark. What can you say about right-wing opinionators that is new? What, too, can you say about a politician ambitious enough to take herself to the I’m a Celebrity . . . Get Me
