Golf star Rory McIlroy made history after winning the Scottish Open at the Renaissance Club a week ahead of the final major of the year in The Open at Royal Liverpool
Rory McIlroy is feeling confident going into the final major of the year after winning the Scottish Open.
McIlroy achieved a fourth-round score of 68 and two-under par to finish the tournament 15-under and one shot ahead of second placed Robert MacIntyre. The win was McIlroy’s second of the season as he goes into next week’s Open Championship.
The 34-year-old went into the final round of the tournament with a one shot lead over Tom Kim, with the likes of Tommy Fleetwood and Scottie Scheffler among the chasing pack in the field.
In the process of winning at the Renaissance Club, McIlroy also became the first golfer to win The Open, The Scottish Open and the Irish Open over the course of their career. And the Northern Irishman admitted he was unaware of the accolade, and was proud of his achievement.
