Romelu Lukaku fit for Belgium World Cup squad but no Lokonga or Origi

Belgium have announced their squad for the World Cup with Chelsea flop Romelu Lukaku included despite suffering from an injury in recent weeks. The Premier League is well represented within the squad with seven players from the English top flight included while a further eight have played in the league before however there is no place for Liverpool icon Divock Origi or Arsenal midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga. Belgium are one of the more favoured teams for the tournament despite looking weaker than they have done in recent years as their squad starts to show signs of age. Manchester City star Kevin de Bruyne remains the nation’s talisman with Eden Hazard and Lukaku other big names. Lokonga and Origi are noticeable absentees for the Red Devils who will face Canada, Morocco and Croatia in the group stages. There is much Premier League interest present with Leicester trio Youri Tielemans, Wout Faes and Timothy Castagne joined by De Bruyne, Brighton star Leandro Trossard, Aston Villa midfielder Leander Dendoncker and Everton star Amadou Onana.  Romelu Lukaku will represent Belgium at the World Cup. Eden Hazard and his brother Thorgan join Lukaku, Thibaut Courtois, Simon Mignolet and Michy Batshuayi in rounding off the Premier League alumni. One of the biggest questions regarding the squad was the fitness of Lukaku, with the big striker featuring in just 31 minutes of match action since August as he struggles with hamstring and leg issues. The 29-year-old has a brilliant goalscoring record for his country after bagging 68 goals in 102 appearances, a record he will be hoping to build on in Qatar. We’ll be bringing you the very latest updates, pictures and video on this breaking news story. For the latest news and breaking news visit: express.co.uk/sport/footballStay up to date with all the big headlines, pictures, analysis, opinion and video on the stories that matter to you.Follow us on Twitter @dexpress_sport – the official Daily Express & Express.co.uk Twitter account – providing real news in real time. We’re also on Facebook @dailyexpresssport – offering your must-see news, features, videos and pictures throughout the day to like, comment and share from the Daily Express, Sunday Express and Express.co.uk.
