Roman Reigns left SummerSlam with his WWE Undisputed Universal championship reign still intact but the physical battle with his cousin Jey Uso has resulted in him suffering an injury
WWE star Roman Reigns possibly suffered a serious injury at SummerSlam, according to reports, despite beating Jey Uso.
The 38-year-old successfully defended his WWE Undisputed Universal championship against his cousin Uso in a âtribal combat’ match at Ford Field in Detriot, with the honour of being âtribal chief’ and the family leader also on the line. But help arrived in the form of Jey’s twin brother Jimmy, who returned and shockingly betrayed his brother and left him laying in a heap, which allowed a bemused Roman to capitalize and continue his historic three-year title reign.
But the âTribal Chief’s’ latest victory appears to have come at a cost, as Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter via Wrestling News shared that he suffered an injury early in the match. Where Reigns sustained the injury and the extent of it have not been disclosed, but the âHead of the Table’ is scheduled to be at this Friday’s episode of SmackDown.
The two cousins facing one another at SummerSlam was one of the most anticipated matches of the year after The Usos finally broke away from the Reigns’ clutches at Night of Champions in May. At Money in the Bank in July, Jey became the first person to successfully pin Reigns in three years when the Usos defeated Roman and younger brother Sola Sikoa in the âBloodline Civil War’ tag team match.
