The Democratic presidential candidate Robert F Kennedy Jr said he “should have been more careful about what I said” after his suggestion that Covid-19 might have been “ethnically targeted” to spare Ashkenazi Jews and the Chinese caused uproar.
At an event in New York on Tuesday night, Kennedy, the nephew of the assassinated president John F Kennedy, sought to fight back against the accusations of antisemitism that have hounded his campaign since his comments two weeks ago. Kennedy, the scion of one of America’s most famous political dynasties, has been condemned by Democrats, Jewish groups and members of his own family.
