Robert had announced the birth of his seventh child whilst promoting his film About My Father in May. He shared the news during an interview with ET Canada at the time. It came after the interview remarked: "I know you have six kids." Robert subsequently corrected them by revealing: "Seven, actually." He then confirmed: "I just had a baby". Shortly afterwards, broadcaster Gayle shared the newborn's name on CBS Mornings, revealing that she had been named Gia Virginia Chen-De Niro by her parents. Gayle told viewers at the time that she'd spoken to Robert prior to the episode and a photo of his baby was shared whilst she further discussed the newborn. She said: "[Gia] weighed eight pounds and six ounces when she was born on April 6. [Robert] and his partner, that's Tiffany Chen, are over the moon about this little girl." Robert already had six children prior to the newborn's arrival. His family includes Drena De Niro, 51, who is his adopted daughter from his marriage to Diahnne Abbott.
