According to a statement from Downing Street on Sunday night, Rishi Sunak has touched down in Indonesia for the beginning of the summit on Wednesday. The announcement stated that the Prime Minister will meet face-to-face with Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov at the summit.In his first in-person meeting with a Russian government official since the invasion, Mr Sunak vowed to ‘call out Putin’s regime’.Sunak said: ‘At the G20, leaders need to step up to fix the weaknesses in the international economic system which Putin and exploited for years.’The Prime Minister will be joined by US President Joe Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron, and China’s leader Xi Jinping in their condemnation of Russia’s actions.While China has remained reserved about its criticism of Putin, Xi Jinping commented on nuclear warfare at the beginning of the month following Putin’s threats.
