Red Bull complete signing of Fernando Alonso prodigy after lengthy pursuit

Pepe Marti is the newest member of the Red Bull junior team Red Bull have added Spanish teenage sensation Pepe Marti to their junior team ranks with the Milton Keynes-based team confirming his signing ahead of the F3 season finale at Monza this weekend. The 18-year-old is managed by Fernando Alonso as part of his A14 program, which supports junior drivers as they progress through the feeder series ladder on the path to F1. Marti has impressed team bosses up and down the F1 paddock with his performances in his sophomore season at F3 level, taking his maiden victory during the feature race in his home race at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya back in June. His presence in the Red Bull junior set-up has now been confirmed with the team announcing via Instagram that Marti would be a part of their roster of young drivers for 2024 and beyond. The Spaniard will even showcase his new, Red Bull-emblazoned helmet at Monza this weekend. This move has been a long time in the making with Marko confirming his interest in the 18-year-old earlier this summer. He told Mundo Deportivo: “[He] is very good. He has done very well. I have been following him for a long time. Not only today. I’ve been watching him since he jumped into F3. His improvement is significant.” The teenager will now look to become the second A14-backed driver to compete in Formula 2 next season, joining fellow Alonso-backed prospect Clement Novalak, who claimed his first-ever F2 race win in the feature race at Zandvoort last weekend. Bulgarian star Nikola Tsolov is also represented by A14 with Alonso utilising his connections at former team Alpine to help the Sofia-born driver a place in their junior set-up, while F3 champion-elect Gabriel Bortoleto is also part of the family.
