Manchester United defender Raphael Varane has explained what the club’s aims are in terms of silverware for 2023/24 after ending their trophy drought last season
Raphael Varane insists Manchester United are intent on fighting for silverware on all fronts next season with confidence brimming in the Old Trafford dressing room.
Varane is one of the most experienced characters in the current crop of Red Devils and is one of the first names on Erik ten Hag’s team-sheet when fit. The former Real Madrid man did see the back end of his season curtailed by injury last time out and fitness issues have slightly blighted his time at United, but he is hopeful the upcoming campaign will be a memorable one.
In Ten Hag’s debut campaign at the helm last term, United managed to end their six-year wait for silverware by winning the Carabao Cup. The Red Devils also reached the final of the FA Cup, but were toppled by local rivals Manchester City at Wembley.
This time, however, Varane has insisted United are out to win them all. Perhaps still sore from seeing their ‘noisy neighbours’ City win a historic treble, the Red Devils are ready to fight and triumph on all four fronts next season, according to Varane.
