Rangers far from convincing on anxious night

According to Alex McLeish you cannot sleep when you are the manager of Rangers and the team is doing poorly. Michael Beale might feel that even some wins are enough to keep the boss awake at night. Rangers have a lead to take to Switzerland for their Champions League third qualifying round second leg on Tuesday, but this was an unconvincing and anxious night at Ibrox.

Rangers’ first European victory in almost a year was welcome but there were echoes of the weekend defeat at Kilmarnock. They have a new team and so far not an impressive one. There were so many heavy touches, so many stray balls, so many misunderstandings. That they deserved their win only underlined how modest Servette were too. PSV Eindhoven
