NEWS… BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT
Holidaymakers are racing to cancel or postpone their summer getaways as Europe is roasted by heatwaves and wildfires.
Italy, Greece, Spain and more have seen the mercury reach the high 30s and even 40s as the Cerberus anticyclone crawls along the Mediterranean.
Yet joining Cerberus, named after the three-headed dog that guards the underworld in Greek mythology, was a second heatwave dubbed Charon – the underworld’s boorish ferryman.
Now Brits hoping for some time in the sun have cancelled their trips altogether while those out on holiday say it’s too hot to even leave their hotels.
