Royal author Andrew Morton has said the late Queen would have backed her grandson Prince Harry and his wife Meghan if they had decided to live in distant lands
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle released their bombshell statement to social media which revealed they were stepping back from their royal roles and were going to split their time between the UK and the US In January 2020. At the time, sources reported that the late Queen, King Charles and Prince William had been shocked by the news and had not been consulted beforehand.
However, royal author Andrew Morton explained during an appearance on The Mirror’s podcast, Pod Save the King, that he thinks the late Queen would have been “understanding” if her grandson and his wife had decided they wanted to live out of the UK for a few years. Morton’s belief stems from the fact that the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh and their young family lived in Malta for two years during King George VI’s reign.
Andrew Morton explained how he believes Prince Harry is “cursed with charisma but hates being a prince” and went on to discuss the similarities between Harry and his late mother, Diana, Princess of Wales.
Speaking about Prince Harry’s plans for his departure, Andrew Morton told Pod Save the King: “They were thinking about living in New Zealand and they even spoke to the Prime Minister of New Zealand about this – so they had all kinds of plots and thoughts for their future.
