Queen Camilla & Andrew Parker Bowles’s former home has an unlikely link to Diana

Interestingly, this Wiltshire property is also where King Charles courted then-Lady Diana Spencer before their marriage. Camilla and Andrew’s marriage ended in divorce in 1995, but the couple resided in the beautiful Wiltshire home from 1973 until 1986. There are several royal ties to the property because Carole and Michael Middleton, the Princess of Wales’s parents, were reportedly interested in it. In 2011, just before Kate and William’s wedding, the couple were said to have expressed interest in the Grade II-listed manor house. Although Carole and Michael did look at Bolehyde Manor, they decided to settle on their £4.7million Bucklebury Manor in Berkshire instead. The former residence of the current Queen, where King Charles is said to have courted Diana, was later sold for £3.75million in December 2020. Initially, Bolehyde Manor was purchased by Andrew Parker Bowles in 1973 for about £600,000. It is therefore not surprising that its value has increased dramatically in recent decades. According to the Savills listing, the house “dates back approximately 700 years.” They continued, saying it is “steeped in character from the heavy oak front door to the mullion windows and time-smoothed flagstone floors in the principal reception rooms”. Camilla and Andrew each had their own office in the house, offering spaces for privacy. Eight bedrooms total, with one of them having traditional wood furnishings throughout, gave the home a rustic feel. The Bolehyde Manor gardens exuded a regal atmosphere even before Camilla joined the Royal Family. The Savills listing reads: “The captivating gardens at Bolehyde are a carefully restored and wonderfully maintained extension of the main house. “With immaculate topiary hedging and attractive stone walling defining individual pockets of character like rooms of varying moods.’
