PS5 Pro does 8K graphics and is out November 2024 claims rumour

The mid-generation upgrade for the PS5 could be up to twice as powerful as the current model, and devs have already been shown demos.

There have been more rumours about PlayStation hardware than there have been games recently, from Project Q and PS5 Slim, to the PlayStation 6 and PS5 Pro.

Surprisingly, of those four consoles it’s the PS5 Pro that there’s been the least amount of information on, even though the likes of Take-Two have said that it, and an Xbox equivalent, will ‘probably’ happen.

Sony hasn’t commented one way or the other, but a new rumour suggests that the PS5 Pro has the codename of Trinity (with the main chip codenamed Viola) and is aiming for a November 2024 release date – with developers getting devkits by at least this autumn.

Supposedly, the PS5 Pro has been in development since early last year, with demonstrations for developers currently going on this summer. Sony’s own internal studios would be first in line and by the sounds of it will already have devkits (the modified versions of the console used to develop games for it).
