PS5 cloud streaming beta is finally here – and it could be Project Q’s salvation

Beta testing for the new PS5 cloud streaming service has begun for selected users.

The PS5 cloud streaming service could bring Project Q a few steps forward, but is that enough to save the gaming handheld?

Sony is starting to roll out a brand new PS5 cloud streaming service, which is currently available to seemingly a few random PSN users. PS5 cloud streaming allows you to play games on your console, without having to actually download and install the titles first, and will be available as part of PlayStation Plus Premium subscription service once it gets a full release.

The service was originally rumoured to be launching at the start of this year and was then officially confirmed via a PlayStation Blog post alongside the PS Plus Extra and Premium June lineup. Sony stated that PS5 cloud streaming would be available for supported PS5 titles, which include those from the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog and Game Trials, as well as digital PS5 games that players own.

At the moment, PS3 and PS4 classic games are already available via cloud streaming on your PS5 console. Some PSN users have been emailed to invite them to try PS5 cloud streaming via the new firmware beta.
