Princess Kate had a rule to not tell her parents when Prince George was born

Prince George was born over a decade ago and when he did, it sparked a media frenzy all over the world as people wanted to see Prince William and Princess Kate’s first son. The young prince was born at 4.24pm on 22nd July 2013 at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, London. But the royal couple had to keep the birth of George a secret at first and there’s a special reason why. According to the royal protocol, when the birth of a future monarch is concerned, no one should learn the news until the current monarch is informed – in that case the late Queen Elizabeth. The Princess of Wales would not have been permitted to even let her parents or any other family or friends know until the late Queen had been informed of her great-grandson’s birth. The full royal protocol states that the current monarch must always be the first call following the birth of a future monarch. And it was Prince William who broke the exciting news to his grandma, it was reported. In William and Kate’s case though, given the fact George was the name of the late Queen’s beloved father, perhaps they knew it would be an easy yes.
