Princess Kate forming ‘close bond’ with royal in absence of sister-in-law Meghan

After realising there are few people the Princess Kate and her husband, Prince William , can trust, they are reportedly becoming closer with their aunt and uncle, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh. Former BBC royal correspondent, Jennie Bond, believes Princess Kate can confide in Duchess Sophie . Speaking to OK! Magazine , she explained: “I think William and Catherine feel they can confide in Edward and Sophie and there are so few people a royal can entrust with their thoughts and feelings.” Princess Kate is reportedly growing closer to Duchess Sophie (Image: Getty) Sky News Australia reports the Waleses are allegedly wary of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle after the Sussexes shared details about the Royal Family in their Oprah interview, Netflix docu-series, and Harry’s memoir Spare. Ms Bond suspects Kate, 41, and Sophie, 58, have bonded because they come from middle class backgrounds and grew up with comparably functional home lives than most of the royals. The royal expert added: “Both Catherine and Sophie have a common touch… perhaps because they lived ‘normal’ lives before marrying.” She also adds they are the “new female stars of the show” and always want to chat and connect with people they meet during engagements. Ms Bond says they royal duo are the “new female stars of the show” (Image: Getty Images) Ms Bond believes the couples are close, referencing their age gap (Image: Getty) Speaking about their age gap differences, Ms Bond added: “Sometimes it seems strange to realise that these are two different generations of royals as they seem much closer.” Ms Bond suspects Sophie and Edward may also be feeling “bonded” to the Waleses after the death of Queen Elizabeth II. The royal expert added: “Especially after all that has happened – not only with the Queen’s death but with Harry and Meghan leaving and Andrew getting ‘sacked’ – the two couples have formed a tight bond.” In particular, Ms Bond believes Duchess Sophie is the “brilliant bridge” between the older royals headed by King Charles and the new generation represented by Princess Kate and Prince William .
