Princess Diana priest slams The Crown’s ‘voyeuristic’ crash scenes

The Crown has faced renewed criticism from the priest who read Princess Diana her last rites, over scenes involving her fatal car crash.

Actress Elizabeth Debicki will portray the late Princess of Wales in the next two seasons of the hit Netflix drama, including season 5 which will debut on November 9.

Images emerged last week of scenes being filmed in the Parisian tunnel where the late Princess of Wales was fatally injured in August 1997 for The Crown season 6.

Princess Diana, mother of Princes William and Harry, later died at hospital aged 36. Moments before, she was given her last rites by French priest Father Yves-Marie Clouchard-Boussuet who has deemed the upcoming scenes insensitive.

Netflix has insisted that the episodes will only show events surrounding the crash and not the moment of impact.
