Prince William looked particularly sombre today as he laid a poppy wreath during the National Service of Remembrance for the first time as the Prince of Wales. The heir to the throne followed in his father King Charles’s footsteps as he walked to the foot of the Cenotaph and placed the flowers, also on behalf of his wife.Kate, Princess of Wales, looked on from one of the balconies of the nearby Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, standing next to Queen Camilla in accordance with the pecking order.Prince William was among the royals and millions of Britons to fall silent for two minutes at 11am.The silence, marked by Big Ben, took place at the same time World War 1 came to an end in 1918, after Germany and the Allied Forces signed the armistice.This Remembrance Sunday is particularly poignant as it’s the first since the death of Queen Elizabeth II, who died on September 8.
