The Sussexes’ website names Her late Majesty as the current sovereign (Image: Getty) Prince Harry and Meghan Markle ‘s official website appears to suggest that Queen Elizabeth is still alive. The late monarch is currently listed as the ‘sovereign’ on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex web page – sussexroyal.com – under the monarchy section. In the first paragraph of the website describing the history of the British monarchy , it reads: “Her Majesty is sovereign and was crowned Monarch in 1953. “Her Majesty serves as a symbol of unity and national pride. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex deeply believe in the role of The Monarchy, and their commitment to Her Majesty The Queen is unwavering.” The website, which is now 390 days out of date, explains that Harry and Meghan’s roles “will continue to reflect their sense of duty and allegiance to The Monarch and her legacy in the world” after they became members of the Royal Family with independence. The website contains out of date information (Image: Sussex Royal website) Continuing to refer to the current monarch as a woman, it says: “Their commitment to The Monarch is resolute, and they aim to continue to fly the flag for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, as called upon.” The website, which still registers on Google and other search engines as ‘The Official Website of The Duke & Duchess of Sussex’, is no longer used for the couple’s official business. But despite stepping back from royal duties back in 2020 and creating a new website, Archewell, for their official business, the Sussex Royal website and Instagram account were never taken down and instead remain active. While this may not cause any confusion on the @Sussexroyal Instagram account, where the last post is clearly dated March 2020, for people who come across the website it confuses things a little more. In a sign off message, they wrote on their old Instagram , which boasts 9.3million followers: ‘While you may not see us here, the work continues. ‘Thank you to this community – for the support, the inspiration and the shared commitment to the good in the world. We look forward to reconnecting with you soon. You’ve been great!’ Other parts of the website are also out of date. In a Q and A under the ‘funding’ section of the website, it says that Harry and Meghan are ‘prohibited’ from earning income in any form, but this obviously changed when they stepped down in their roles as senior royals. Since making the move to Montecito, Califonia, the couple have gained new sources of income, most notably their Netflix deal which is ‘still going strong’ according to TV bosses. The website also references that in 2019, five percent of the funding for their official office was provided through the Sovereign Grant. And while discussing Frogmore Cottage, where Harry and Meghan previously lived, the website still suggests that the dwelling is owned by the late Queen Elizabeth. It says: “Expenses related to fixtures, furnishings, and fittings at the official residence – which is owned by Her Majesty the Queen – were funded privately by The Duke and Duchess of Sussex.” Express.co.uk has contacted the Duke and Duchess of Sussexes’ representatives for comment.
