Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have made a “power play” by posing with NATO representatives while at the 2023 Invictus Games in Düsseldorf, Germany on Thursday, an expert has claimed. The images emerged just days before Prince William is due to fly to New York to meet with the UN in order to draw attention to environmental issues. The couple were pictured smiling and holding hands next to NATO chiefs and their families , after it was confirmed they spoke with joint force commander General Luigi Miglietta. Brand and culture expert Nick Ede said the Sussexes were showing their power on the world stage in the ongoing PR battle between them and working members of the Firm. He told MailOnline : “Harry and Meghan know that this is a really good time to shine their lights on both the lnvictus Games but other power players too. For both of them this is positive PR but also inevitably raise eyebrows as to where they will be going next.” Harry and Meghan were both dressed smartly for the occasion, with Harry in a suit and shirt and the Duchess wearing a caramel coloured silk shirt and trouser ensemble. They later changed into more casual attire to watch the Games from the stands, as they saw Ukraine take on Nigeria in a wheelchair volleyball match. She told MailOnline: “Meghan and Harry’s body language really does seem to signal that the Harry and Meghan roadshow is back in the room. “It’s been a while since the fans have been treated to some of their signature rituals of togetherness as a couple and as a professional double act but they appear here taking the applause like celebrities with Harry back in his proud, protective tow-along pose, hand-in-hand with a very excited looking Meghan. “Their hand clasp is mutual, with Harry’s hand on top in a gesture of dominance and Meghan’s fingers are curled upward to show reciprocal affection as Harry leans to talk to her.” Prince William will be in New York next week (Image: Getty) The Prince of Wales meanwhile will take to the international stage next week in New York, where the focus will be on his environmentalism and raising his profile in the US . William will fly out next Monday and will spend two days in New York during the city’s climate week, where he will meet with UN secretary-general Antonio Guterres, meet with delegations from Ecuador and Vanuatu, wade into the Hudson River in aid of a new water project and unveil the 15 Earthshot finalists. Royal aides told The Times that the Prince was “very keen” to visit New York, having been forced to postpone a trip last year due to the death of Queen Elizabeth. An aide said: “This trip is part of his evolution as a global statesman which is incredibly important, especially since becoming Prince of Wales. He and his courtiers have been thinking about how to manage that transition from Duke of Cambridge to the next King.”
