Nottingham Forest and Nashville SC have reportedly agreed a transfer fee that will see Sam Surridge swap the Premier League for Major League Soccer at the age of 24
Nottingham Forest striker Sam Surridge is set to leave the Premier League club for MLS team Nashville SC in a £5million transfer.
Surridge, 24, is said to have turned down moves to the Championship in favour of moving to the United States, per The Athletic. The former England under-21 international has previously played for Bournemouth, Stoke City, and Swansea City, plus Forest, in the second tier.
Despite only having one year remaining on his contract, Steve Cooper’s side would more than double the reported £2.2million paid to Stoke when signing the forward 18 months ago. Potential add-ons could even take the total fee Nashville pays towards the £6million mark.
Last season, Surridge made 20 appearances in the Premier League as Forest successfully avoided relegation; however, only one of those was from the start. The striker’s one goal came as a substitute away against former club Bournemouth to equalise in a 1-1 draw.
