 A pregnant woman lost her baby just days after her partner kicked her in the stomach and back. Scott Kinsey, 28, told his victim: 'You're not much of a woman if you can't hold your own baby in you.' The attack took place in January 2021 when the woman visited him to see if they could work things out in their turbulent relationship, Newcastle Crown Court heard. She had told Kinsey she was pregnant the previous month and he had seemed 'happy', prosecutor Richard Herrmann said. But he was angry as soon as she arrived because she had not spent Christmas and New Year with him, jurors heard. Mr Herrmann said: 'The defendant kicked her to the stomach and while she was on the ground continued to kick her to the back, on at least two occasions. 'She began bleeding and was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary by ambulance. She subsequently miscarried the baby. Newcastle Crown Court sentenced total of 44 months behind bars (Picture: NCJ Media) 'It is important to note, the Crown are not in a position to prove that the miscarriage resulted from the assault.' The victim told the police about the attack and her miscarriage while making a complaint about Kinsey harassing her in 2022. He had hounded her 'incessantly' with calls and messages after he was released from prison, where he served time for another assault on her, despite a restraining order being in place. Kinsey admitted breach of a restraining order and harassment in relation to that behaviour, along with assault. He also pleaded guilty to assault on an emergency worker after he threw a file of papers at a police officer who was questioning him about his offences. When appearing in court via video link to prison, he had to be muted after interrupting. He then appeared to mouth abuse, make hand gestures and laugh. He even spat at the camera as the case ended.
