Powerball lottery Jackpot to grow to $1BILLION after no winning ticket sold

The Powerball jackpot has reached an estimated $1 billion (£770 million) after no winning lottery ticket was sold for the latest drawing, making it the third highest in US history

The Powerball jackpot has surged yet again to an astounding $1BILLION as no lucky ticket holder managed to secure a winning combination in the latest drawing.

During Monday’s drawing, none of the tickets matched the numbers: 5, 8, 9, 17, 41, and the red Powerball 2. The initial jackpot was estimated at $900million.

For the upcoming Wednesday drawing, the jackpot – the equivalent of £770million – is set to become the third highest in the history of the United States, and it will continue to grow until a fortunate winner emerges.

Ticket buyers stand a chance to claim this massive prize either through yearly increments or by opting for a substantial one-time lump sum of $516.8 million (£396.37 million) before taxes.
