Police officer injured after Albuquerque SWAT standoff

Police are at the scene (Image: Getty) Police say an officer has been injured and another person is dead following an armed standoff in New Mexico. Officers were called to 557 Tramway in north east Albuquerque on Friday, July 21. Images from the scene show SWAT teams in the area as they attempted to arrest a man. It is believed the individual attempted to barricade themselves into an apartment, reports KOB4. Police say the man refused to surrender. The police officer who was shot was taken to hospital. His injuries are not said to be life-threatening. A New Mexico State Police spokesman said: “NMSP involved in officer shooting at 557 Tramway NE in Albuquerque. An APD officer struck by suspect gunfire, their condition is unknown. “Suspect also struck and is deceased. Scene is still active.”
