Phil Mickelson takes cheeky dig at Bryson DeChambeau after historic LIV Golf win

Bryson DeChambeau became the first LIV Golf player to break 60 at Greenbrier last Sunday, and on congratulating him fellow star Phil Mickelson could not resist a quick jibe

Bryson DeChambeau found himself dealing with Phil Mickelson after a record-breaking victory at LIV Greenbrier last weekend saw the five-time major champion take to social media for a not-so-subtle, tongue-in-cheek dig.

DeChambeau secured his first LIV Golf title since making the Saudi switch last summer, and did it in style, after becoming the first player on the breakaway circuit to break the 60-shot mark. The American carded a remarkable 12-under-par 58 to claim the title by six shots over Mito Pereira.

During his final 18 holes on Sunday, 29-year-old DeChambeau holed an incredible 13 birdies and one bogey to write himself into golf’s history books. Speaking afterwards, the Crushers GC captain described the 58 as the ‘greatest moment’ of his career, quite the statement from a man who was crowned U.S. Open champion just three years ago.

A whole host of big name players took to social media to congratulate DeChambeau afterwards.
