Pep Guardiola ‘won’t stop’ Silva transfer as Man City urged to spend

Manchester City have been told that boss Pep Guardiola won’t stand in the way of Bernardo Silva if the midfielder wants to leave the Etihad for Barcelona in the summer. The Portugal star has been a long-term target of the Spanish giants, though City have so far rejected the temptation to cash in on one of their most important players of recent years.Silva was linked to Barcelona in the summer and in previous years, despite becoming a mainstay in a City team that is aiming to win the Premier League and Champions League this season. But former Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor admitted he can understand why Silva would be interested in moving to the Nou Camp, and that Guardiola would not stand in his way.’As players, you only get one career, you only get one life,’ Agbonlahor told Football Insider. ‘Bernardo Silva might have it in his head ‘I want to play for Barcelona, I want to play for such an iconic club’. A manager like Pep will not want to stand in his way.’It might be a case that Bernardo leaves in the summer and they grant him his wish to go to Barcelona. They can recoup some money and use that towards a signing. Maybe he doesn’t want to sign a new contract, he’s won the Premier League with Man City so he might want to try a different league.’ Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola won’t prevent Bernardo Silva’s move to Barcelona. Things have to happen rationally and it wasn’t an ideal scenario for Bernardo. He is a mature player, he is 28 years old. Things have to be done rationally, not emotionally.”DON’T MISSJuventus have ‘true stance’ on Spurs boss Conte as private chat leakedWhat Arsenal medics ‘believe’ about Bukayo Saka injuryCristiano Ronaldo loses Man Utd dressing room title after record beat Bernardo Silva in action for Manchester City.
