The change excludes Esso filling stations at Tesco Express stores. For Tesco Bank customers, the number of points you collect will depend on whether you use your card to collect points for fuel, to pay for fuel, or both. The current average cost of a litre of unleaded in the UK is 143.29p, according to the RAC, so two litres cost around £2.86. That means the majority of people will be getting less Clubcard value when buying fuel. Tesco made the announcement on the points in early March, but some shoppers are only just realising. One recently took to the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook group saying they didn't realise the system had changed. They said: "Noticed yesterday that if you use Tesco Clubcard on fuel they are changing the points to how many litres you put in now not £ spent." Other drivers were quick to comment, with one writing: "I filled up yesterday, 28 litres, 41 quid and only got 14 points! So are they giving half the points for the amount of litres? That's annoying" While another added: "Tesco Clubcard is no where near as good as it used to be." And a third wrote: "I didn't know that! Thanks for sharing." A Tesco spokesperson previously told The Sun : "We are making a change to the way you can collect points when buying fuel at Tesco Petrol Filling Stations but rest assured that you can still benefit from Clubcard points every time you fill up with us."
