The Argentina international has been one of United’s standout performers this season following his £56.7 million arrival from Ajax in the summer.
Doubts have been raised over Martinez’s ability to become a success at United, primarily due to his lack of height, but the 24-year-old has quickly formed a solid partnership with Raphael Varane at the heart of Erik ten Hag’s defence.
And while Scholes has been impressed with Martinez’s impact, the former United midfielder says the Argentine still needs to improve defensively.
