Paige Spiranac urges PGA Tour to make LIV Golf rule change “right now”

College golfer-turned-influencer Paige Spiranac has the PGA Tour precisely what they should do following the sweltering temperates at the St. Jude Championship last weekend

Golf influencer Paige Spiranac has encouraged the PGA Tour to implement a rule change in operation on the LIV Golf circuit.

This past weekend’s St. Jude Championship was played in scorching conditions in Memphis, Tennessee and the players were struggling to keep themselves cool. Harris English’s caddie, Eric Larson was treated for heat stroke, while tournament winner Lucas Glover claimed he did not “get this wet in the shower” on Saturday morning.

This prompted Spiranac to suggest the PGA should follow in the footsteps of LIV, who allow their players to wear shorts during tournaments. “I know what a couple of you are saying out there,” the 30-year-old said Monday via a video posted on social media platform X.

“‘Well, it’s tradition and they want to look like professionals.’ You’re saying that in the air conditioning on your nice, cool couch, drinking an ice cold beer. The men on the PGA Tour should absolutely be able to wear shorts, and the rule needs to change right now.
