Over a third of musical Brits say playing an instrument helps boost their mood

A quarter of those who play a musical instrument say it is their most prized possession – and one in five would be ‘lost’ without it

Over a third (35%) of musically-inclined Brits say playing a tune helps to boost their mood – with a quarter claiming their musical instruments are their most prized possessions.

Three in ten Brits who play the piano, guitar, or drums, say they instantly feel more positive when they pick up their instrument, according to a poll of 1,000 adults.

Nearly one in three (31%) feel more relaxed, and 29% are inspired to be more creative – while a quarter say they get a sense of escapism while playing.

And those with an instrument typically spending an average of four hours a week playing, according to the research.
