‘Official’ Twitter accounts lampoon leaders following verification changes

Elon Musk’s $44billion takeover of Twitter encountered more chaos as pranksters hijacked his latest feature to impersonate world leaders.

Blue ticks – previously reserved for accounts the social media giant had vetted and found to be genuine – can now be bought for $8 a month as part of the premium Twitter Blue service.

And jokers have lost no time setting up seemingly verified fake accounts.

In one spoof exchange, former US president George W Bush and ex-prime minister Sir Tony Blair discuss how they miss ‘killing Iraqis’ in the 2003 invasion.
