Crystal Palace, in the post-Wilfried Zaha era, are hoping to find a new talisman and Eberechi Eze fits the bill on the evidence of this match against Sheffield United, which was decided by a Odsonne Édouard goal shortly after the break.
Zaha, who has moved to Galatasary, would have admired how Eze, 25, – who has one England cap to his name – controlled this game and as much as anybody ensured that Sheffield United finished the game empty-handed on their return to the Premier League.
