Nyck de Vries breaks silence on brutal F1 axe to offer clarity over Red Bull exit

De Vries raced just 10 times for Red Bull’s sister team AlphaTauri in F1, before the decision was taken to axe in and bring in the experienced Daniel Ricciardo as replacement

Nyck de Vries has spoken out for the first time since his Formula 1 dream was shattered after just 10 races.

The Dutchman finally landed a full-time F1 seat for the first time this year with AlphaTauri. However, after failing to score a point in his first 10 races, Red Bull decided last week to replace him with Daniel Ricciardo.

Despite some claims that he had given interviews to foreign news outlets, De Vries had been maintaining his silence. That changed on Wednesday when the 28-year-old took to social media.

In an Instagram post, De Vries confirmed that he plans to continue to take a break from being in the public eye for a while. “After recent events, I decided to take some time for myself away from social media, which I will continue to do,” he wrote.
