Nottingham Forest and their curious sponsorship deal with mysterious betting company

The Premier League side have agreed a two-year front-of-shirt sponsorship deal with Kaiyun Sports, despite question marks surrounding the Asian betting platform

Nottingham Forest were among the busiest clubs in the latter stages of the summer transfer window – and they weren’t just signing players.

Amid the chaotic period which saw them sign seven players on deadline day, Forest also announced a two-year sponsorship deal with Kaiyun Sports in what was their first front-of-shirt sponsorship deal since being promoted to the Premier League last year. If you haven’t heard of Kaiyun you are not alone, despite Forest describing the company as a “prominent Asian digital sports platform”.

The Premier League club have gone from having UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, on their kit during the second half of last season, to having an obscure Asian-focused company which does not have a working UK website there instead.

If you type in kaiyun.com – the website on Forest’s shirt during their impressive 1-0 win over Chelsea on Saturday – you are redirected to kaiyun.co.uk and greeted by a message which reads: “The Kaiyun website is currently being built and will be live very soon. Once live our website will provide UK players with a brand new Sportsbook and Casino offering, including: Award winning Sportsbook, Latest Casino and Video Slots, Fantastic Gambling Features And much more…”
