Safeguarding propaganda assets ‘should be a primary focus’ for citizens, state media reports
North Koreans have been ordered to prioritise protecting murals of the ruling Kim dynasty, propaganda statues and monuments, as a deadly storm sweeps across the country on Friday.
State media warned citizens to expect strong winds and flooding as Typhoon Khanun made landfall on the southeastern coast of South Korea early Thursday and tracked through the Korean Peninsula from south to north on a path not seen since record keeping began in 1951.
The typhoon, which was downgraded to a tropical depression as it swung past the South Korean capital Seoul, was expected to reach Pyongyang on Friday morning, sparking fears it could damage agricultural land in a country already facing widespread malnutrition.
However, the Rodong Sinmun, the North’s main newspaper, told citizens that safeguarding propaganda assets should be their first duty, reported NK News.
