North Korea fires ballistic missile over Japan sparking mass evacuation order

Japan has said that at least one North Korean missile flew over the north of the country leading to mass evacuation orders with tensions simmering in the region

North Korea has fired at least one ballistic missile off its eastern coast with a rocket heading over Japan and leading to a mass evacuation order for residents to find shelter.

It is the latest in a series of weapons tests that had raised tensions with North Korea also having made veiled threats to use nuclear weapons against the United States and South Korea this week.

Japan’s Prime Minister’s Office announced that a North Korean missile flew over the north of the country.

It said more than one missile was fired, although it didn’t immediately say how many and that the missiles landed in the Pacific Ocean – triggering alerts in three northern prefectures.
