Nicola Sturgeon will wreak ‘permanent economic chaos’ on Scotland, says Douglas Ross

Scottish Tory leader attacks First Minister’s independence blueprint, saying she has ‘no credible plans’

Nicola Sturgeon is drawing up a “programme for permanent economic chaos” in her new Scottish independence blueprint – despite Rishi Sunak’s efforts to restore stability, Douglas Ross is set to warn.

The Scottish Tory leader will use a keynote speech on Saturday to tackle head-on the First Minister’s claim that voters should back separation to escape from the chaos instigated by Tory-led UK governments.

He is expected to argue the turmoil of Liz Truss’s calamitous premiership was a temporary phenomenon, which Mr Sunak has already started to address.

In contrast, he will argue that Ms Sturgeon’s revamped separation blueprint would wreak “permanent” damage, including by putting half a million jobs at risk by creating a hard border with the rest of the UK.
