Nick Bosa ends San Francisco 49ers holdout with record-breaking NFL contract

San Francisco 49ers defensive end and reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year Nick Bosa has agreed to a five-year deal with the team, making him the highest-paid defensive player in NFL history

The San Francisco 49ers and superstar edge-rusher Nick Bosa have agreed to a five-year, £‎‎‎135million ($170 million) contract extension.

Bosa’s new deal has made him the highest-paid defensive player in NFL history. The move comes just before the start of the regular NFL season, also ending a 43-day training camp holdout.

Bosa’s new contract is a significant upgrade from what he was slated to earn on the fifth-year option of his rookie deal from 2019, which was close to £14 million‎ ($18 million). His negotiating power was boosted by his undeniable performance last season, where he achieved a career-high, league-leading 18.5 sacks and earned NFL AP Defensive Player of the Year.

Along with the sacks, Bosa recorded 51 tackles with 19 for a loss of yardage. He also had 48 quarterback hits and two forced fumbles. His remarkable skills on the field have earned him recognition as a three-time Pro Bowler.
