New service to speed up care by allowing hospitals struggling with backlogs to match patients with other providers
NHS patients could skip treatment queues by travelling to another hospital where waiting times are shorter.
The health service has launched a new service to speed up care by allowing NHS hospitals struggling with backlogs to match a patient with another provider where they can be seen more quickly.
An online platform will allow 650 hospitals, including more than 150 from the private sector, to take patients from other locations subject to their needs and how far they are willing to travel.
There are currently 7.47 million people on the NHS waiting list, with more than three million waiting more than the 18-week target to be seen.
