The legendary pass-rusher had a touchdown ruled off the board after an incorrect call by the referees, which cost one punter on winning his bet and leaving him $1000 (£850) out of pocket
JJ Watt has a reputation for being one of the nicer, more generous athletes in the world – and he’s lived up to that once again in offering to pay one punter who lost out on his winnings after an incorrect call by NFL officials.
During the Arizona Cardinals’ win over their division rival Los Angeles Rams, quarterback John Woolford was strip-sacked by rookie Myjai Sanders who was able to knock the ball out of quarterback John Woolford’s hands as he attempted to throw the ball.
Legendary pass-rusher Watt was quickest to react to the ball on the ground, and scooped it up before believing he was about to score a touchdown. However, the referee’s bizarrely called the play dead, adjudging Woolford’s arm to be going forward, making it an incomplete pass.
After reviewing the play, the referees reversed the call and did rule it as a fumble, however, did not give Watt the touchdown, after blowing the play dead before he got to the end zone.
