A sixth-straight defeat for the new York Yankees saw the MLB franchise be booed by its own fans following Friday’s humiliating loss to age-old rivals, the Boston Red Sox
The New York Yankees were booed by their own fans after an 8-3 loss to their fiercest rivals, the Boston Red Sox, with the humiliation condemning the MLB franchise to a sixth-straight defeat.
New York’s loss on Friday sent their record to 60-62, pushing them further to the bottom of the American League East, which is currently topped by the Baltimore Orioles. Red Sox rookie Masataka Yoshida hit a three-run homer, while Brayan Bello pitched six innings in a barn-storming win for Boston.
Pressure has also ramped up on manager Aaron Boone, whose challenge to his players fell on deaf ears. Boone challenged his Yankees stars to “fight and compete” earlier this week after being beaten comfortably by the Atlanta Braves.
He said: “When you don’t hit and you have games where you don’t score any it has that look of being flat. That’s just the nature of it. I don’t think that’s the case. I think these guys have a lot pride in what they do.
