New York Jets make decision on Aaron Rodgers’ role in pre-season

New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh has revealed the decision taken on how involved new quarterback Aaron Rodgers will be during the team’s pre-season games this August

New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh has revealed the team’s plans for Aaron Rodgers during pre-season.

Rodgers is preparing for his first season with the Jets following his trade from the Green Bay Packers in April. In doing so, he called time on an 18-year career in Wisconsin after being selected No.24 overall in the 2005 NFL Draft. The 39-year-old is set to be the starting quarterback for the Jets going into the 2023 NFL regular season. It will be the 19th year that Rodgers will have played in the league, as he nears a two-decade-long career at the top level of the sport.

The Jets have a busy pre-season schedule ahead of them, as well as the training camps which began this week. The Hall of Fame game against the Cleveland Browns on August 3 will be followed by friendlies against the Carolina Panthers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the New York Giants.

Rodgers has been taking part in the training camp with his new Jets teammates this week. However, it’s not likely that the veteran quarterback will be taking the field during the pre-season games. Saleh has revealed that the plan for Rodgers will be not to take much part during the pre-season games. But the Jets head coach did explain that there is the possibility that the quarterback could take to the field in one game before the season begins.
