New York Giants player reveals he had fractured foot when playing game of his life

Isaiah Hodgins has revealed that his NFL Wild Card heroics last season for the New York Giants against the Minnesota Vikings came despite nursing a gruesome injury

New York Giants wide receiver Isaiah Hodgins has revealed his remarkable performance against the Minnesota Vikings during the NFC Wild Card Round game came despite playing with a fractured foot.

Hodgins recorded 105 receiving yards on eight catches and scored a touchdown in the 31-24 win for the Giants over Minnesota. His heroics came despite his ankle being bruised and discolored before the game. “I thought it was just like a high ankle sprain – the ankle was all black and blue,” Hodgins said on the 2nd Wind Podcast.

“Dabs [head coach Brian Daboll] was all scared. Everyone was like, ‘Oh, you gonna play?’. I was nervous for myself. My dad (former NFL fullback James Hodgins) is calling me like, ‘Bro, you gonna be good?’. And I’m like, ‘I hope so.'”

Hodgins took extra safety precautions to protect his injury ahead of the game, heavily taping his ankle, and he couldn’t even plant the injured foot. “It was like the third quarter of that game, and I was saying, ‘Hey, if I have to run like an end cut, like we gotta [sic] switch sides cuz [sic] I can’t plant that deep off this foot,” he continued. “I could do short, intermediate stuff. And I was just like dug in through like the whole time.”
