Saquon Barkley was handed a franchise tag by the New York Giants and they have been sent a message by another NFL team with a deadline fast approaching
News that Evan Engram has signed a new deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars will have no doubt reached the ears of the New York Giants and Saquon Barkley.
The Giants handed Barkley a franchise tag earlier in the off-season, of which he is yet to sign. The two parties have been in negotiations, but as things stand no agreement has been reached.
The running-back was reported to be unhappy at being given the $10.1 million (£7.7m) tag. Players have until 9pm BST (4pm ET) on July 17 to sign the franchise tag contract, and one player already has.
On Sunday it was announced that Engram had reached an agreement with the Jaguars on a three-year deal. The news came a little over 24 hours before the deadline on Monday evening.
