Footage from neighbours led to an outcry and Lorain Police released the footage earlier this week. A "Justice for Dixie" event was held outside Lorain Police headquarters. A number of people in the community including Dixie's owner are calling for Palmer to be fired. Dixie can be seen dragging her hind legs as she attempted to get back to the grass after being shot in the middle of the street. She collapsed after making it back to a neighbour's driveway. Several people angrily confronted the officer, wasting to know what happened to Dixie. Owner Tammie Kerns told 3News: "After she was shot one time in the street, he should have just let it go and let us get the dog and take her where she needed to be treated. "But he didn't do that. She was crawling — useless, helpless — in the street. He continued shooting her. She was trying to come to safety, and he just kept shooting her three more times after the first time." Tammie was heard calling Palmer a "stupid f**k" on the bodycam footage. "You killed my dog," she can be heard shouting, as Palmer responds by saying "Your dog charged." Kerns' daughter added: "I thought hey this man's gonna help us stop traffic so if any of our dogs do happen to run in the street, he was gonna stop it that's what most cops do."
