Neighbours shun ‘hot yoga’ teacher in Surrey planning row

A row over building plans between a figure skater turned “hot yoga” specialist and her neighbourhood wine society has broken the peace of a Surrey commuter village.

Emma McGuinness, who had a competitive career on ice before becoming an expert in Bikram yoga, is being sued with her husband Terence over their plans to demolish their £1.5 million house and replace it with two properties.

The couple have in turn accused their “nimby” neighbours of having “shunned and ostracised” them, including barring them from the local wine society.

The 41-year-old former figure skater and her husband, 45, a catering company executive, have told a court they need to create a home alongside their new house in Oxshott so that they can care for her unwell
