When Miranda Dickson painted her front door a shade of Champagne pink, she hadn’t expected a backlash in which neighbours would compare it to Pepto-Bismol and provoke the council to threaten a £20,000 fine.
The 48-year-old said the doorway of her New Town home in Edinburgh brings her “joy and happiness at a time when things are a little grey” and was stunned when she was ordered to repaint it with muted colours or face the wrath of councillors.
“So many people stop and take photographs of it and tell me how much they love it and how it makes them smile,” she said.
But she added: “It appears to have caused outrage and distress for one person. I’ve already been to buy a more
