Matt Harrison, proprietor of the Village Barber in Davenham, Cheshire, was struggling to attract custom through his door. It was September 2011 and he knew he needed to do something radical or he risked going out of business.
His saviour came in the form of a tech-savvy 15-year-old boy who popped in to pitch his new website service. The boy was Will Bell, the now 26-year-old founder of Nearcut, which builds booking systems for barbers and beauty salons and has monthly recurring revenues of more than £140,000 – all without the assistance of raising any external investment.
