Ukrainian forces strike crucial Russian tanker ‘Sig’, responsible for transporting jet fuel to Kremlin-backed warplanes in Syria
A Ukrainian naval drone attack has damaged a Russian tanker used by the Kremlin to send jet fuel for its warplanes in Syria.
RosMorRechFlot, Russia’s maritime agency, said that the vessel, named Sig, was struck by a seaborne drone at 11:20 pm on Friday in the Black Sea near the Kerch Bridge.
“The Sig tanker received a hole in the engine room near the waterline on the starboard side,” it said.
Video footage, believed to have been released by Ukraine, showed the view from the maritime drone as it speeds toward the tanker; the video feed cuts out abruptly as it reaches the side of the vessel.
